DJ Emerging Mkt Stk, Bond Funds See Outflows In Week To Nov 14
NEW YORK (Dow Jones)---Emerging-market funds saw outflows in the seven-day
period ended Nov. 14, with equity funds losing $5.6 billion and
emerging-market bond funds parting with $186 million, fund tracker EPFR said
Friday.
For equities, it marked the first week of outflows after 11 consecutive
weeks of inflows. In the previous period, emerging-market stock funds saw
$2.4 billion in inflows.
The net redemptions captured a rocky period for the markets, still shaken by
concerns with global credit markets. Stock funds dedicated to Asia lost the
most, or $2.5 billion, followed by Global Emerging Markets funds, which lost
$2.1 billion.
Latin American funds parted with $421 million and emerging Europe, Middle
East and Africa equity funds had net outflows of $477 million.
As for emerging-market bond funds, EPFR reported $155 million in losses for
hard-currency funds and $32.2 million in losses for local currency bond
funds. Blended funds had outflows of $63 million, EPFR said.
